A massive well done to 26 of our Beginners boxers that have just completed their 8 week beginners boxing course.

With restrictions in place we done the 8 weeks of training every Friday on Zoom. It’s not something the coaches were used to but it worked out very well surprisingly. The boxers didn’t get the usual padwork interaction but we were able to work loads on Technique and we could show them short videos of our other Monkstown Schoolboys & Schoolgirls boxers that have competed in Skills bouts/Dublin Leagues & Championships, so they can see what’s ahead in their boxing careers. We are really looking forward to working with these boxers and them represent our club for many years to come.
Huge credit to all the boxers and their parents, they adapted really well to the online sessions.

We held a ‘one boxer at a time’ outdoor presentation and presented some of the boxers with a well earned MBC Medal, Cert & Tshirt.

We would like to thank DLRCC in particular our community officer Sandra Kelly who is always on hand to help our club, DLR Sports Partnership, DLR PPN Office, Joeys FC, our local sponsors and our community for their constant support.
Our next 8 Week Beginners Boxing Course for Boys & Girls (age 8, 9, 10 & 11) will be starting Friday 30th April 2021 outdoors in Dunedin park. We have over 30 boxers registrations already.

This is an introduction to Amateur Boxing, all the kids will learn the basics & skills. At the end of the 8 weeks we will present each kid with A Certificate, A Medal and invite them to join our club proper going forward.

The areas we particularly focus on are Fitness, Strength, Footwork, Coordination & Discipline.

The committee of Monkstown Boxing Club are thrilled with the news that the DLRCC ratified our motion for a purpose built boxing hall for our club. We have been waiting a long time to get to where we are now, and we are extremely grateful to all the DLRCC Councillors.


Our club started out by a local community parent & our chairman Tommy Rapple,  in a derelict block of flats, it was very tough but humble beginnings that we really enjoyed. One of the main reasons it was so enjoyable was that we had our own key, we could run extra training sessions whenever we needed, unfortunately it was just too small (with no space for a proper boxing ring). We worked with the council and became anchor tenants in the new mounttown community facility that was built in 2008, since then the membership has grown hugely to over 200 members and although we have two boxing rings erected - we are restricted to the days/hours we can use our club, as this is a multi purpose centre.


Our club is an integral part of our community, which we care deeply about. Our coaches are extremely dedicated to providing the best boxing classes to all our members. Over the past 5 years we have produced 58 Irish Boxing Champions at all levels from Schoolboys/girls to Elites. We have boxers & coaches enrolled in the highly acclaimed IABA High Performance program.

This new purpose built boxing club will help us to provide more classes to the local community and beyond, whilst also giving us the capacity to increase our membership again. This is a huge step in the right direction for our club and our community.
